i'm so nervous right now. O_o
sometimes i even wish i wasn't going to switzerland for a year. i know that sounds really, really stupid and selfish and immature...but i can't help it. i'm going to miss my parents, my grandmother, buffy, sarah, alex, ashley, jamie, marnelli, and all of my other friends so much.
i suppose after a few weeks i'll settle down and become more comfortable in the new environment, and the homesickness wo't be so bad. i know that as long as i keep really busy, i won't have as much time to sit around and think about how far away i am from my family and friends....
january 16 will be the hardest. those last few minutes before i have to step onto the plane...:( :( but once i'm airborne i'll probably pull myself together. and i know that when i'm about to land in japan i'll become very excited. :)
my dad gave me a new digital camera as an early christmas gift yesterday. ^__^
it can take movies, and sound clips, and has six picture modes. it's quite a spiffy camera! ;) i know i'll take some really, really gorgeous photos on it in europe.

first entry in my swiss journal! :)
i guess i'll keep any day to day personal stuff out of here until i actually arrive in switzerland...
have to pack my bag and take it to the vet's surgery to get it weighed [on the doggie scales]. we have severe luggage restrictions - 26 kg normal bag and 5 kg cabin bag. if you pack more than that rotary makes you unpack at the airport and they take photos to show future exchange students and to humiliate you. O_o
got to buy another pair of jeans and some shirts. i'm only bringing two pairs of jeans [because they're warm], shirts, thermal underwear, a coat, and my ugly falling-apart shoes. i'm buying new boots, new coat and whatever else i need in luzerne with my host mother. i had an idea yesterday of buying one of those plain shirts at big w, and transferring a photo of my friends onto the front, and then getting them all to sign the back. the swiss girl [daniela meletta] did something similar and it looked good.
i can't decide to have a party or something before i leave. i think all i would do is cry. lol.
